WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are currently looking for children, male and female, who are under the age of 13 years old. You will not be seen if you are 14 years of age or older.
This is an audition for Abby Lee Dance Company's elite team, to be featured on a future season of "Dance Moms" and also for a potential future season of "Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition". In both instances, the child and parent/guardian appear on camera. We are looking for mother and fathers.
The audition is for the parent/guardian, as well as the child. As seen on previous seasons of "Dance Moms", the parent/guardian is heavily involved on the show. Please do not have your child apply if you are not interested in being featured on the show. Each child needs to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Children who attend the open casting call alone will not be seen.
Please encourage friends to register and attend. Having relationships with other applicants may be helpful during the audition process.
REGISTERING FOR THE OPEN CASTING CALL
You must register, through this website, if you are attending one of our casting calls. Registration will include filling out our application, which is used heavily during the audition process. Please fill out the application fully and thoughtfully. All paperwork, including the application and release, will need to be filled out before a child can enter the audition.
Once you are registered, we will not contact you until we see you at the open call. We will let you know if there are any updates that alter the schedule or location for that day.
We strongly suggest attending the casting call. You are guaranteed to be seen by Abby Lee Miller if you attend one of the three open calls. We will consider Skype interviews with applicants from the West Coast, but still encourage you to attend.
If you are not able to attend an open call, please fill out the application and mark it accordingly. There is a small chance we may contact you for a Skype audition.
By the morning of your open call, you must have multiple video examples of your child's dancing abilities uploaded onto YouTube and marked as "Unlisted". We will ask for this on your audition day. The best examples are videos from competitions or recitals, where your child is fully dressed in costume and on stage. If this option is not available, please film something similar and try to make it look as professional as possible. The quality of the dancing is very important. The video examples are a very important part of the audition process and can make or break your child's chances.
DAY OF THE OPEN CASTING CALL
Abby will teach a combination and will be watching closely for standout dancers. Standout dancers will be asked to stay for a callback. Children that are cut will not be moving forward with the casting process. Decisions about dancers is solely at our discretion.
Please keep the entire day of the casting call clear, as well as the morning of the next day. Though we would love to work with schedules as much as possible, we are in town for a very short time and will have limited availability, so please make yourselves available.
Cameras and other recording devices are not allowed in the audition space.
Abby Lee Miller will not be available for photographs or for autographs.
All attendees, parents and children, will be on-camera, potentially from the moment they enter the building.
Because this may be televised, please adhere to the following rules regarding apparel:
1) No clothing with logos, including personal logos, will be permitted.
2) You may not wear all white or small patterns.
3) Children should be dressed to dance, with appropriate attire and dance shoes. They should be in full stage hair and makeup.
4) Please bring a dance costume and supplies to do more stage hair and makeup, as it may be needed later in the audition process.
5) Parents should be dressed up, with full hair and makeup. While we want you to remain true to yourself, you are auditioning and will be on-camera. Typically, women will wear heels and dresses to our auditions.
AFTER THE OPEN CASTING CALL
There is no definite time you will hear about the results for the show. Please do not call Lifetime, Collins Avenue Productions, or Abby Lee Dance Company for updates on casting. We will contact you.
APPLICATION INFORMATION/APPEARANCE RELEASES
In order to register for the open call, you must fill out the application under the "Registration" section of the website. Because we use the applications during the casting process, it's very important to fill them out honestly and completely.
When you arrive at the open call, you will have to fill out an appearance release for you and your child. This allows us to use footage with you and your child on the "Dance Moms" TV show. Though we will have copies at the open call, you are able to click here to see the release ahead of time. Please let us know if you have any questions.
